The problem: App displays forecasts for the wrong location
Many users of the Weather24 app report that weather forecasts are displayed for a completely different location than where they actually are. This can have several causes: GPS coordinates are misinterpreted, the app confuses places with similar names (so-called geographic homonyms such as "Munich" in Germany or Austria), or the added location is not correctly linked to the actual coordinates.
Causes of geolocalisation problems
GPS inaccuracy and coordinate mismatch: Your device determines the GPS position, but the app may assign these coordinates to the nearest available location – not necessarily your exact town.
Place name confusion: There are many places worldwide with identical or very similar names. The app could accidentally select a place in a different country or region.
Manual entry errors: When you add a location manually, typos or ambiguous place names can lead to incorrect assignments.
How to fix geolocalisation problems
1. Delete and re-add location: Remove the incorrect place from your favourites list and add it again. Pay attention to the correct spelling and select the exact right place from the suggestion list – often the region or country is displayed to avoid confusion.
2. Check GPS permissions: Make sure the Weather24 app has permission for location detection. Go to Settings > Apps > Weather24 > Permissions and enable "Location".
3. Recalibrate GPS: Turn the GPS function off and on briefly, or restart the app. This forces the device to determine the position again.
4. Use manual location input: If automatic detection is not working, enter your location manually. For ambiguous names, specifically select the correct entry with country/regional designation.
