If the Weather24 app isn't loading weather data or is continuously showing a flashing sun, the content may not have been retrieved completely. There are various possible causes for this.
Possible causes
Weather data loading can be affected by the following factors, amongst others:
- a missing or unstable internet connection,
- enabled power-saving or data-saving functions,
- restricted background data usage,
- battery optimisers or other optimisation apps,
- ad blockers, content blockers or DNS filters,
- VPN connections, firewalls or security apps,
- corrupted temporary app data,
- an outdated app or operating system version,
- insufficient free storage space, or
- a temporary technical fault.
Troubleshooting steps
Please follow the steps below in order. After each step, check whether the weather data is loading again.
-
Step 1: Check your internet connection
Open another website or app to check whether you have an internet connection. Try switching between WiFi and mobile data.
-
Step 2: Check power-saving and data-saving settings
Temporarily disable power-saving mode and data-saving mode. Make sure the Weather24 app is allowed to use mobile data and is not restricted by battery optimisation. The names and menu paths may vary depending on your device and operating system.
-
Step 3: Temporarily disable ad blockers and network filters
Temporarily disable any ad blockers, content blockers, DNS filters, VPN connections, firewalls or security apps you're using. Then open the Weather24 app again.
If the data then loads, check the settings of the relevant service and add Weather24 as an exception if necessary.
-
Step 4: Update the app
Check in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to see whether a new version of the Weather24 app is available and install it. Also check whether an operating system update is available for your device.
-
Step 5: Check free storage space
Check whether your device has sufficient free storage space. If necessary, free up some space and then restart the app.
-
Step 6: Clear the app cache
On Android, you can delete temporary app data in your device settings. The exact menu path depends on your device manufacturer and is often:
Settings → Apps → Weather24 → Storage → Clear cache
