The problem: Widget shows outdated or missing weather data

Many users of the Weather24 app report that the widget on the home screen no longer updates or displays outdated information. The widget may work for a few days before suddenly freezing and only showing old data. This is particularly frustrating as the app itself functions correctly.

Causes of widget update issues

Permissions and background updates: Often the required permissions for location access and background updates are not granted correctly or are blocked by system optimisations.

Cache and storage: Cached data can become outdated or corrupted without the widget recognising this.

Step-by-step solution

Step 1 – Re-add the widget: Remove the widget from your home screen. Then completely restart your smartphone. Add the widget back only after the restart.

Step 2 – Check permissions: Go to Settings > Apps > Weather24 > Permissions. Enable "Location" and make sure it is set to "Always allowed".

Step 3 – Enable background updates: Check under Settings > Battery > Battery optimisation that Weather24 is not on the list. If it is, remove the app from this list.

Step 4 – Clear app cache: Go to Settings > Apps > Weather24 > Storage > Clear cache.

If these steps do not work, try completely uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
