Why does the rain radar display change after the first 2 hours?

Two different data sources are used for the precipitation display in the rain radar: The first 2 hours are based on current radar measurement data — that is, actually measured precipitation in real time. From the third hour onwards, calculated forecast data from numerical weather models are displayed, which show the predicted development.

Since there is a switch from measured real-time data to model-based forecasts at this point, a visible difference can occur — for example, a rain or thunderstorm cell disappearing or the progression not appearing seamless. This is due to technical reasons and is not a display error.
