If the Weather24 widget is not loading, is not displaying current data, or is using the wrong location, please follow the steps below in order. After each step, check whether the widget is working correctly again.
1. Check Your Connection
First, open the Weather24 app and check whether the weather data is loading correctly there.
If the app is also not displaying data, check your internet connection. Try switching between WiFi and mobile data.
2. Check the Location in the Widget
Check which location is selected for the widget. If the widget should use your current location, make sure location services are enabled and the Weather24 app is allowed to access your location. Also enable the "Precise Location" option, if available on your device.
3. Allow Background Updates and Data Usage
For the widget to retrieve current data, the Weather24 app must not be restricted by your device's system settings.
Check in your device settings whether the Weather24 app is allowed to work unrestricted in the background. This includes in particular:
- Background data or background updates are enabled
- Mobile data or internet access for the app is permitted
- Battery saver or data saver modes do not restrict the app
- Battery optimisations or similar features are disabled for the app
- The location permission is correctly set (if location is being used)
5. Temporarily Disable Network Filters
Temporarily disable any VPN connections, ad blockers, DNS filters, firewalls or security apps you are using.
6. Update the App and Operating System
Check the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to see whether a new version of the Weather24 app is available. Also install any available updates for your operating system.
8. Remove and Re-add the Widget
Remove the Weather24 widget from your home screen. Then briefly open the Weather24 app and add the widget again.
9. App Cache
On Android, you can clear the temporary data of the Weather24 app. The menu path is, for example, depending on your device:
Settings → Apps → Weather24 → Storage → Clear Cache
If the Problem Persists
It is best to send us a message directly from the app:
App Menu → Help
Describe the problem in as much detail as possible and tell us:
- which widget type and widget size are affected,
- whether no, outdated or incorrect weather data is being displayed,
- which location the widget should display, and
- which troubleshooting steps you have already taken.
Please add a screenshot if possible. If you are unable to send a message from the app, please send us an email at support@weather24.co.uk.
