The Weather24 app displays numerous weather symbols and advanced meteorological indices that can seem confusing at first glance. In this article, we explain the meaning of all important symbols and measurements.
Basic Weather Symbols
The standard weather icons show the current weather conditions at a glance: sun for clear weather, clouds for cloudy conditions, raindrops for precipitation and lightning for thunderstorms. Each symbol is designed distinctly, so you can immediately recognise what conditions to expect.
Air Humidity (Relative Humidity)
The relative air humidity is displayed as a percentage and shows how much water vapour is present in the air. Values below 30 % are considered dry, while above 80 % are perceived as very humid. High air humidity amplifies the sensation of heat, whilst low values can dry out the skin.
UV Index
The UV Index indicates the intensity of solar radiation. Values of 0–2 are low, 3–5 moderate, 6–7 high and 8+ very high to extreme. At high UV values, you should use sunscreen and preferably stay in the shade.
Wind Direction and Other Indices
The wind direction is represented by compass points (N, NE, E, etc.) or arrows. Other important indices include the dew point (at which dew condenses), air pressure and the visibility index for fog conditions.
Where to Find the Legend
In the Weather24 app, you can tap the info symbol (i) under "Settings" or directly in the weather forecast to get a complete explanation of all displayed symbols and values. This legend is available at any time and can be consulted as needed.
